Heat Extraction

Most high temperature geothermal heat is harvested in regions close to tectonic plate boundaries where volcanic activity rises close to the surface of the Earth.

In these areas, ground and groundwater can be found with temperatures higher than the target temperature of the application.

However, even cold ground contains heat. Below 10 feet or 3 meters, the ground is consistently 12.8 °C (55 °F) in moderate climates such as the UK.

We provide pre-insulated pipework solutions for heat pump applications.

Our air and ground source heat pump solutions offer pipe protection, thermal protection and impact protection.

We supply a number of fitting options for heat pump pipes.

Different jointing technologies are available to suit your project.

Size Range of Our Heat Pump Pipes:

  • 25-315 mm OD pipework from stock
  • Flexibility – coils up to 90mm
  • Fusion welded or mechanically jointed – fittings held in stock
  • Pre-fabricated solutions for complex changes of direction
  • Pre-insulated valves for zonal control allowing the network or parts of the network to be isolated for maintenance

Flexenergy can provide two options of pipe material depending on your installation proficiency.

PE-X (cross linked polyethylene)

PE-X HeatFlex is a flexible pre‐insulated pipe system with classical PE‐Xa, SDR11 service pipe, made for a maximum peak operation temperature up to 95°C and 6 bar design pressure. Service pipe diameters from 25 mm to 125 mm are available.  We can supply mechanical connections and jointing equipment to join the pipe.

PB (polybutylene)

PB Flexalen 600 is a flexible pre‐insulated pipe system with PB, SDR11 service pipe, made for a maximum peak operation temperature up to 95°C and 8 bar design pressure. Service pipe diameters from 25 mm to 315 mm are available.  We can supply mechanical or welded connections and jointing equipment to join the pipe.
